SCOPE OF WORK:

FLAG DESIGN | CONCEPT ART

LOCATION:

TONASKET, WA

The name Tonasket honors Chief Tonasket, a respected leader of the Okanogan (Syilx) people. The 12 triangles represent the 12 constituent tribes of the Colville Confederation (CCTCR).

The Okanogan River is represented by a central blue stripe, symbolizing the river’s role as the lifeline of the valley—this central element of the design represents settlement, agriculture, wildlife, and trade. Mountains on the horizon represent the Okanogan Highlands and forests. The Golden Sun references the life source of Tonasket’s agricultural foundation. The North Star makes the shape of a “T” and represents Chief Tonasket, while the 4 points of  the star also represent the 4 seasons. These elements symbolize prosperity, stewardship, and the seasonal rhythms that define the local economy and community life.
